Dan Robinson-Ford

After initially studying graphic design Dan Robinson-Ford decided his enthusiasm for painting superseded anything truly academic. Dan’s early interest in painting was sparked by Hopper's

'Nighthawks and Vettriano's 'Mad dogs' persuaded him to try using a paintbrush.  Durer, Vermeer and contemporary painters such as David Hockney and Richard Estes all played their part in educating him.

The narrative behind Dan’s artwork is in part owed to the stories and tales he hears and second to this, but perhaps more obviously, is his fascination with the imperfect beauty of overlooked places and objects that seem fixed in time. When asked to explain his work: "What type of artist are you?" Dan finds the simplest way is to describe himself as "a painter."
